U.S.-based Spanish language network Telemundo has struck a co-production agreement with Endemol, the Spanish entertainment production company.
The venture will allow Endemol Spain to produce adaptations of Telemundo’s hit shows for the Spanish market. At the same time, Telemundo will be in charge of international distribution for the new productions.
Endemol Spain’s roster of original TV content includes numerous soaps, series and reality shows. Telemundo’s offerings include hit soap operas like “Dame Chocolate” and the current “Sin Senos No Hay Paraiso.” Telemundo’s productions had been airing in Spain for the past four years.
“The next step after syndicating our original content is to export our formats to be produced locally and we have found an ideal partner in Endemol,” Telemundo president Don Browne said.
This is the latest of Telemundo’s international alliances. Last year, the company signed a deal to have some of its programming distributed by Televisa in Mexico. Telemundo also recently extended its partnership with Billboard to produce and air the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
Telemundo.com is also the official Billboard Latin Music Awards Web site.
