So what was happening on the Real-Time Charts this week?
Taylor Swift and One Direction engaged in a battle for the No. 1 spot on the Trending 140. Good Morning America premiered a snippet of Swift’s new song, “Out Of The Woods,” which drove the track to No. 1 on the Trending 140 a full day before its Oct. 14 release.
The same day “Out Of The Woods” came out, a 25-second teaser for the video to One Direction’s new single “Steal My Girl” hit the Twittersphere. Anticipation for the video was so high that it drove the video to the No. 1 spot, edging out Swift for the top spot.
The Trending 140 chart measures the acceleration of conversation around artists and their music, while the Emerging Artists chart measures the volume of tweets around new artists and their songs.
