Welcome back to Billboard’s weekly video show “Real-Time Rewind,” which recaps the past week’s hottest action on the new Billboard Real-Time Twitter Charts —Trending 140 and Emerging Artists — and the news that’s driving the action. Joe Levy takes a visit to Brooklyn Plantology at Brooklyn Terminal Market on Episode 20, which features Taylor Swift and One Direction.
So what was happening on the Real-Time Charts this week?
Taylor Swift and One Direction engaged in a battle for the No. 1 spot on the Trending 140. Good Morning America premiered a snippet of Swift’s new song, “Out Of The Woods,” which drove the track to No. 1 on the Trending 140 a full day before its Oct. 14 release.
The same day “Out Of The Woods” came out, a 25-second teaser for the video to One Direction’s new single “Steal My Girl” hit the Twittersphere. Anticipation for the video was so high that it drove the video to the No. 1 spot, edging out Swift for the top spot.
