Taylor Swift has spoken about her love of Ryan Adams before, and Mr. Adams has returned the favor. This morning (Aug. 6) on Twitter, the mutual admiration got approximately 500 percent more real.
Adams, known for his sprawling, extensive catalog, is adding a top-to-bottom covers album of Swift’s 1989 to his resumé. He confirmed the rumors via Twitter, and Taylor just couldn’t contain herself:
@hasief @TheRyanAdams is this true??????? I WILL PASS OUT.

@TheRyanAdams Cool I’m not gonna be able to sleep tonight or ever again and I’m going to celebrate today every year as a holiday. I’M CALM

And by the looks of Ryan’s Instagram, it’s going to be very Smiths-inspired. Check out a little sample below:
Back in November, Adams had this to say about the Taylor Swift album:
This new @taylorswift13 album is kicking my heart down the street like an old tin can. Blue fog. Neon. Overcast perfection. Let it in.

Adams hasn’t announced anything official (like a release date) for the Swift covers collection, and we don’t even know if it will be an “official” release, or just something he posts online for fun. Since he self-releases through his own label, Pax Am, he pretty much has free reign to do whatever he pleases — with Taylor’s blessing, of course, which it seems he already has.

And for Ryan, who’s occasionally come off as a grumpy rockist, it’s a savvy pop-friendly move, and one that will hopefully convince the rock crowd of Swift’s formidable songwriting skills.
