Taylor Swift’s re-recording of her 2008 single “Love Story” — renamed “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” — debuted atop Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart this week. That makes it the first Swift song to open at No. 1 on the tally and only the second time an artist has topped the country songs chart with separate versions of the same composition since Dolly Parton did so with two iterations of “I Will Always Love You” in June 1974 and October 1982. The original “Love Story” led Hot Country Songs in the weeks dated Nov. 22 and 29, 2008.
Released Feb. 12, “Love Story (Taylor’s Version)” drew 13.7 million U.S. streams the week ending Feb. 18 and also topped Country Streaming Songs, making it her third time summiting that chart. It additionally debuted at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her 129th entry on the ranking, the most among women.
On radio, the re-recording drew 1.1 million all-format airplay audience impressions the week ending Feb. 21, despite the track not being actively promoted to radio stations.
