Taylor Swift has donated nearly $2,000 to University of Connecticut’s annual HuskyTHON charity dance marathon …and made dreams come true for one UConn student and devoted Swiftie.
The pop superstar contributed $1,989 — a figure which neatly reflects the title of her Grammy Album of the Year winner 1989 — to the donation page of Igor Lekontsev, a fourth-semester accounting major.
Lekontsev, who caught Swift’s attention after he set up a fan page on Tumblr, got more than he bargained for when his idol FaceTimed him on Saturday morning (Sept 20).
Thank you for protecting me all these years with your words Taylor. I love you forever ?? pic.twitter.com/uA0q8YMhr9

“I literally had no idea about her contacting me until she did it,” Lekontsev told The Daily Campus. “I couldn’t have prepared for this two months ago.”
Swift’s donation and many others will benefit the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center as a part of this annual HuskyTHON fundraiser. Organizers are hopeful more than $700,000 will be raised for the facility.
