The stars were out on Sunday night in Los Angeles, hitting after-parties all over town as a final send-off to the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards.
Republic Records, label home to VMA winners Nicki Minaj and Taylor Swift, held its soiree in West Hollywood Ysabel where guests were treated to open bars, free In’N’Out burgers and gourmet tacos. In the VIP section, Ariana Grande held court with manager Scooter Braun and boyfriend Ricky Alvarez, the latter a dead-ringer for Nick Jonas who was huddled nearby and puffing on a cigar.
VMAs 2015: 31 Things You Didn’t See on TV
Hailee Steinfeld was spotted singing along to “Bad Blood” right around the time Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello walked in with Shawn Mendes, which had onlookers surmising that the two were together together.
Adding to the star count: The Weeknd, Prince Royce, Fall Out Boy‘s Pete Wentz and Patrick Stump, Emily Ratajkowski, Selena Gomez and the lady of the evening, Taylor Swift, who made it a girls’ night in a cordoned off area. Nearby, Joe Jonas also had a turn at the DJ booth.
Music industry executives celebrating Republic’s VMAs wins included label chiefs Avery and Monte Lipman along with key lieutenants Charlie Walk, Wendy Goldstein and Rob Stevenson. Also making the rounds: Big Machine CEO Scott Borchetta, “Bad Blood” director Joseph Kahn and hitmaker Max Martin, who had a lengthy one-on-one with Grande early in the night.
Miley Cyrus Says New Album Cost $50,000 to Make,
Label Was Out of the Loop
Meanwhile, over in Hollywood, a scantily clad Miley Cyrus played host for the second time that Sunday, taking over Beacher’s Madhouse at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The super-exclusive soiree had an appropriately over-the-top circus-meets-boudoir feel and was dedicated, in part, to Cyrus’ Dead Petz (vodka and tequila cocktails were named Floyd, Pablo and Twinkle).
Closer to VMAs homebase in downtown L.A., fashion and Moonman designer Jeremy Scott invited friends like Demi Lovato, Rita Ora and Iggy Azalea for his own after-party blocks away from the Microsoft Theatre. There, adjacent to the city’s iconic Union Station, guests danced to hip-hop and sipped on vodka cocktails courtesy of Svedka.
