Taraji P. Henson faced some kickback on social media following an Instagram story Tuesday (Jan. 22) comparing the negative response to R. Kelly to that of Harvey Weinstein.
In her story series, she looked up the #MuteRKelly hashtag on Instagram, which had more than 30,000 posts associated with it, whereas #MuteHarvey and #MuteHarveyWeinstein had less than 20 posts. Her clips suggested a confusion as to why Weinstein was receiving less hate than Kelly, even though they both have been accused of sexually abusing women.

After a number of Twitter users explained that Weinstein was widely shamed on social media, and was charged for multiple counts of assault, while the hashtag #MuteRKelly was meant to remove his music for streaming platforms, Henson took to Twitter to clarify her statement.
She explained that she was not defending the singer. “LET ME BE CLEAR R. KELLY IS GUILTY AND WRONG AND SHOULD BE MUTED PERIOD!!!!!” she wrote. See below.
