Indie rock outfit Tapes ‘N Tapes will release its sophomore album, “Walk It Off,” April 8 via XL Recordings. As previously reported, the project was produced by Dave Fridmann and recorded at his Tarbox studio in upstate New York.
“It was nice to be able to work with someone who has a real studio,” lead singer/guitarist Josh Grier told Billboard.com in November. “Having a budget was awesome. It allowed us to have a real studio and get the sounds we wanted. We wanted to make a rock record, but there weren’t any over-indulgences. There’s no orchestral arrangements or anything.”
The Minneapolis-based group’s 2006 debut, “The Loon,” crept onto Billboard’s Top Independent Albums chart at No. 47. It has sold 44,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Tapes ‘N Tapes will perform at South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, in March, in advance of a spring tour.
