Modern rock act Tantric has been selected as one of the opening acts for Creed’s upcoming North American tour, the first leg of which kicks off Jan. 16 in Atlanta and wraps Feb. 17 in Kansas City, Mo. According to a spokesperson, Tantric will be playing second each night and following another act which has yet to be confirmed. Eight of the tour’s first 18 shows have already sold out, according to Billboard Bulletin.
Last week, news circulated that Puddle Of Mudd has been chosen as one of the opening acts, but Creed’s management issued a statement saying that the group would not be participating. Sevendust has also been rumored as a support act for some portion of the dates.
Tantric comprises former Days Of The New members Todd Whitener (guitar), Jesse Vest (bass), and Matt Taul (drums), and vocalist Hugo Ferreira. The group’s self-titled Maverick debut peaked at No. 71 on The Billboard 200 in June. The single “Mourning” is No. 29 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Tracks list.
