Tame Impala’s acclaimed third album Currents is getting the deluxe treatment.
After teasing it last summer, the Aussie psychedelic rock outfit has revealed the finished product on Instagram. The Currents Collectors Edition will arrive Nov. 17, and will combine the LP on limited edition red marbled vinyl with alternate artwork, a 12″ featuring two remixes, a 7″ and flexidisc with three b-sides, a poster and a zine offering a “candid glimpse” into the making of the album, according to a statement from Universal Music.
Written, recorded, produced and mixed by Kevin Parker in Fremantle, West Australia, Currents established Tame Impala as one of the hottest alternative bands on the planet, certainly among critics.
The album opened at No. 1 in Australia after its release in July 2015, and went on to win a hattrick of categories at the ARIA Awards, including the prestigious best album honor. Currents went to No. 4 in the U.S. and No. 3 in the U.K., eclipsing the chart peaks of its predecessors, 2012’s Lonerism and 2010’s InnerSpeaker. The group also won best international group at the 2016 Brit Awards, beating out U2 and others.
