Talinda Bennington has found love after loss.
Almost three years after the Linkin Park frontman’s death, Chester Bennington‘s widow remarried in Hawaii on Jan. 4 to Los Angeles County firefighter Michael Fredman, about four months after the two announced their engagement.
Some publications originally reported that the two tied the knot on Jan. 1–Chester and Talinda’s anniversary–but the newlywed took to Twitter to quickly slam the rumors. “With joy and love I want to set something straight. ON JANUARY 4th, I wed a wonderful man, great friend, and son this weekend,” she wrote. “We celebrated with all of our family and friends on the beautiful island of Oahu.”
“The day we chose was a day of meaning, in many different ways,” she continued. “My anniversary w/Chester wasn’t my new wedding date. Jan. 1st will always be the day I married Chester. I would never paint over that day with anything else.”

Chester died by suicide on July 20, 2017, what would have been his close friend Chris Cornell’s 53rd birthday. Cornell took his own life two months before.
