Detroit indie-pop rock duo JR JR released their self-titled album this past fall. Another showcase for their eclectic sound, the band teamed up with Billboard to share the diverse roster of artists that light up their own earbuds. 1. Shye Ben Tzur – “Roked”: This is the latest work by Jonny Greenwood. I pretty much listen to anything he’s a part of. I think he’s the best musician in the world right now.

2. Stevie Wonder, “Maybe Your Baby”: I played this album almost every day as a kid. I love how the verse is super groovy and energetic and the chorus chills out. It’s a reverse of the typical song form.
3. JR JR, “In The Middle”: We were going for a Janet Jackson/New Edition vibe on this one. It’s the craziest song live and has a ridiculous bass line by our friend Sam Farrar.

5. Martha Reeves & The Vandellas, “Jimmy Mack”: This is my favorite song of all time. The major seventh chord in the chorus just kills me every time.

6. Randy Newman, “Texas Girl at the Funeral of Her Father”: Try not crying during this one. Randy Newman is the best at pulling on my heartstrings.

11. Vulfpeck, “Rango II”: Great new record. This song has Blake Mills on the guitar, and it’ll sing to you.
12. Agnes Obel, “Falling, Catching”
13. JR JR, “Hypothetical”: This song is a favorite of ours on the new record. Our friend Ben West helped us write it.
