Welcome back to Takeover Tuesday, where each week Billboard taps chart-topping artists and tastemakers to compile their very own playlist exclusive to Billboard‘s Spotify account. We give the artists free rein to base the list on whatever subject they choose. The only rule? Make it as creative and unique to them as possible.
After a six-year hiatus following the release of 2011’s striking set Metals, Canadian singer-songwriter Feist returned last month with the highly anticipated follow-up Pleasure via Interscope Records. The experimental set finds the four-time Grammy-nominated artist expanding her sonic footprint further than ever before, from the adventurous and sprawling title track to the bluesy pop of her collaboration with Jarvis Cocker on “Century.”
Currently on tour in support of the record, Feist will hit festival dates throughout the summer here, including performances at Eaux Claires Festival (June 17), Ottawa Jazz Festival (July 2) and Norway’s Oya Festival (Aug. 10). Today, in preparation for the long stretch on the road, the singer-songwriter shared her aptly titled “Slow Dance/Couch Time”-inspired Takeover Tuesday playlist, exclusively via Billboard.
“Contemplative times need contemplative songs,” Feist tells Billboard of the set. “Tonally and in their stories, these are songs I’ve gone to when I need a soundtrack to deepen my dive. “
Dive deep with Feist on her “Slow Dance/Couch Time” Takeover Tuesday playlist, and then give her striking new “Pleasure” LP a spin below.
