U.K. boy band Take That will embark on its biggest U.K. tour yet, running June 6 to July 4 next year.
“Take That Presents The Circus Live – Summer 2009” will take in five stadium venues around the United Kingdom. The tour will begin at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light followed by dates at Cardiff Millennium Stadium (June 16) and Glasgow Hampden Park (June 20).
The revived Nineties group will then play Manchester’s Old Trafford Cricket Ground for three nights (June 26-28) and will conclude with two nights at London’s Wembley Stadium (July 3-4), which has a concert capacity of up to 90,000.
“This will be the biggest tour we’ve ever done so we’ll be working especially hard over the next few months to make it the best and most exciting Take That tour yet,” the band said in a statement. The tour will be promoted by SJM Concerts.
As previously reported (Billboard.biz, Oct. 22), Take That will make their live comeback at the Nov. 6 MTV Europe Music Awards ceremony in Liverpool.
Take That last hit the road for 2007’s “Beautiful World Tour,” which sold over 370,000 tickets in less than two hours according to the group’s publicists. The band made a successful comeback with 2006 album “Beautiful World” (Polydor), which is certified nine-times platinum in the U.K.
Their new album, “The Circus” (Polydor), is due for U.K. release on Dec. 1. Lead single “Greatest Day” is released Nov. 24.
