U.K. pop act Take That has joined the line-up for the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards, to be held on Nov. 6 at Liverpool’s Echo Arena.
It will be a return to the MTV Awards stage for the boy band, which performed at the very first MTV EMAs, staged at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate in 1994.
This will also be the group’s first pan-European performance of lead single “Greatest Day,” released Nov. 24. Their new album “The Circus” (Polydor) is released Dec. 1.
“This is a historic moment in the history of the MTV Europe Music Awards,” said Richard Godfrey, senior VP, music and production & executive producer, MTV Europe Music Awards in a statement. “Take That was part of the first ever awards show and it is only fitting that they return to the MTV Europe Music Awards for its fifteenth anniversary.”
The fifteenth annual MTV EMAs will be hosted by Katy Perry. The evening will also feature performances by Beyonce, Pink, Duffy, The Killers and Kid Rock.
MTV Networks International will broadcast the awards in over 40 European territories. The MTV EMAs is sponsored by edc by Esprit, Sony Ericsson and Dell.
