Hitmaker Swizz Beatz, Billboard editorial director Bill Werde and Queens Councilmember Jimmy Van Bramer will appear January 17 at “Music-versity: Power of One”, a workshop and Q&A with the students of the Bronx Charter School for the Arts for an event in partnership with Music Unites that will underscore the importance of arts education in the Bronx and throughout the inner city.
The Power of One series, a program of the Intrepid Museum, seeks to highlight specific events in young people’s lives that lead them on a positive path throughout their lives.
Taking place at the Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum’s Howard Lutnick Theater, the event will feature a discussion with Swizz Beatz moderated by Werde and an interview with Swizz by a Bronx Charter School student, as well as performances from the Bronx Charter School for the Arts, the Women’s Academy of Excellence, and Music Unites Ambassadors Candace Lee and Kyle Alfred.
Music Unites is a non-profit that looks to bring music education to under-resourced inner-city schools. The Bronx Charter School for the Arts is a public elementary school that uses arts education as a catalyst for the success of its students.
