Switchfoot has postponed its hometown album release show scheduled for Wednesday (Jan. 15) after frontman Jon Foreman was injured in a surfing accident.
The rock band had originally planned to celebrate the release of its new record, “Fading West,” with a concert at the Casbah in San Diego, Calif. However, Foreman sustained a wound to his face while surfing Monday (Jan. 13), requiring a few days’ rest before returning to the stage.

“You travel all around the world making a movie and record built around surfing, and really push yourself to ride some really challenging waves,” Foreman said in a statement. “So it’s more than a bit ironic to get injured in your own backyard. Thankful that I’m okay — it could have been much worse.”
The concert has been rescheduled for Feb. 3, though those with tickets to the sold-out show can still visit the Casbah Wednesday night for a signing of the band’s new album, as well as a meet-and-greet with the band members.

“Fading West,” Switchfoot’s ninth studio LP, was released today (Jan. 14) through Atlantic, hitting No. 1 on iTunes’ album chart. “Vice Verses,” the band’s previous album, hit No. 8 on the Billboard 200 in 2011.
