Chris Kläfford isn’t your typical America’s Got Talent hopeful.
For starters, he’s Swedish. And he doesn’t strut about in tight pants, or show off his abs, ink or slick dance moves. Nope, he comes across as a regular guy, a no-nonsense musician who plays in his own lane.
With his recent audition, the hirsute singer and songwriter made many new fans with his interpretation of John Lennon’s “Imagine.” On Tuesday night, he did his own thing, again, this time with an original number “Something Like Me.”
An inspirational song with country in its veins, “Something Like Me” got the right response from the AGT judges. “You’re something else,” enthused Brad Paisley. By performing an original, “you’re taking a gamble,” noted Howie Mandel. “That gamble paid off.”
Simon Cowell admitted he had revisited the artist’s earlier effort, and it hadn’t aged well. After Tuesday’s performance, the Brit has changed his mind. “You’ve made our job a little bit harder now, because it was that good,” he remarked.
