Hopeful fans have speculated on a triumphant Swedish House Mafia reunion since before the supergroup trio let the last drop of bass waft in the air of Miami’s final performance. It’s been three and a half years since the group bowed out, and almost every day since, there’s been whispers, rumors, subtweets, and no doubt tea leaf readings popping up here and there so as to give the idea continuous hope.
Today, the dance music world is all tizzied up again thanks to some comments from YouTube curator Proximity. It shared a photo on Facebook that read ”Hello Swedish House Mafia. 2017” that’s since been taken down.
Proximity later explained the post in a statement: “What I can say is that I have spoke to a few people in the music industry that Swedish House Mafia is indeed coming back in 2017 for a tour that is already confirmed. Disclaimer: But what I heard about the tour was not said or confirmed by Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso, Steve Angello or their team.”
A speedy response from Axwell & Ingrosso, two-thirds of the gang, to Billboard Dance has put that idea to rest (at least for now):
“At this point we’re not planning on reuniting and we have really no further comments on what the future for SHM looks like.”
