Music Confidential’s Susan Butler, SoundExchange president and CEO Michael Huppe as well as Merlin’s Charles Caldas, Kill Rock Stars’ Portia Sabin and Secretly Group’s Darius Van Arman are among the full-slate of speakers (full-list below) announced for A2IM’s 2017 Indie Week which runs June 5-8 at New York’s Clemente Soto Velez Cultural and Educational Center on New York’s Lower East Side.
The speakers join the-already-announced Tim Westergren, Pandora’s CEO and co-founder, who will deliver this year’s keynote address. Closing out the conference on June 8 is A2IM’s 6th Annual Libera Awards at Times Square’s PlayStation Theater.

Susan Butler is the author of Music Confidential a weekly music business report on pricing, licensing, and legal issues published through Butler Business & Media LLC. She is also an entertainment and tech attorney and produces select private executive summits in Europe.
Michael Huppe is president and CEO of SoundExchange and oversees the system through which artists and labels are paid statutory streaming royalties. The company has distributed more than $4.5 billion in royalties to recording artists and rights holders from statutory and direct licensees negotiated between rights holders and licensees.
Indie week is presented by SoundExchange and features three days of panels and workshops designed to provide education and networking in the independent music industry.

Closing out the conference on June 8 is A2IM’s 6th Annual Libera Awards at Times Square’s PlayStation Theater. The evening will honor Indie artists and labels for their achievements in 19 categories, including album of the year and artist of the year, and feature performances by Independent Icon Award honoree Nick Lowe (Yep Roc), Lifetime Achievement Award winner Ani DiFranco (Righteous Babe), Talib Kweli (Javotti Media), Twin Peaks (Grand Jury) and Nick Hakim (ATO Records).
