As the calendars roll over to September and the weather starts to turn, the time is right for Susan Boyle to return with new music. After releasing her first two albums, “I Dreamed a Dream” and “The Gift,” over the past two autumns, Boyle announced that her third full-length, “Someone to Watch Over Me,” will be released on Nov. 1 through SYCO/Columbia Records, after performing a new song, “You Have To Be There,” on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” on Wednesday (Aug. 31).
Written by ABBA‘s Benny Anderson and Bjorn Ulvaeus for the Swedish musical “Kristina,” the song is another stirring ballad that finds Boyle taking on darker tones: “Without you, I am drifting on a dark and stormy sea… Little by little, I am losing my way in the shadows,” she sings. On “America’s Got Talent,” the Scottish singer performed the song with a full string orchestra behind her and a bit of confetti subtly falling on her head by song’s end.

“I’m so pleased the audience enjoyed the song,” says Boyle in a release. “I really loved performing that big number. I was also a little nervous introducing something new. ‘America’s Got Talent’ – it’s where I started with my first album, so it was wonderful to be back and for the support.”
“Someone to Watch Over Me” is Boyle’s third album after wowing the judges on “Britain’s Got Talent” in 2009; that year’s “I Dreamed a Dream” and 2010’s “The Gift” have sold a total of 5.9 million U.S. copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Boyle’s story will also be captured in an in-the-works stage musical starring Scottish actress Elaine C. Smith and set to open next March in the U.K.
