U.K. rock quartet Supergrass has canceled its remaining U.S. tour dates, after singer/guitarist Gaz Coombes and his keyboardist brother, Rob, returned to the U.K. due to a serious family illness, a spokesperson tells Billboard.com.
The group was scheduled to play Washington, D.C., tonight (Oct. 7), Brooklyn, N.Y., tomorrow (Oct. 8) and the final two dates on Radiohead’s North American tour (Oct. 9-10) in New York. Refunds for the Washington, D.C., and Brooklyn shows are available at points of purchase. Veteran independent rock act Low will now open the Radiohead New York shows.
Supergrass is also scheduled to play at the Heineken Festival on Oct. 17 in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, as well as the Rocket Festival in Hong Kong on Oct. 25, but the status of those appearances is unknown at deadline.
The group is touring in support of its latest Island album, “Life on Other Planets,” which debuted in March at No. 10 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart.
