During the KCON 2018 NY STAR Live Talk with Billboard, iconic K-pop act Super Junior addressed their latest historic achievement: becoming the first Korean group to appear on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart with their most recent single “Lo Siento.”
“I think it was only possible because of the fans,” said group leader Leeteuk about the success of the song, a collaboration with singer Leslie Grace and producers Play-N-Skillz. “Lo Siento” broke into the Latin Digital chart at No. 13 on the chart dated April 28. It was the first time a K-pop act has appeared on a Latin chart.
The trilingual “Lo Siento,” which features Korean, English and Spanish, was released in April. It was one of the most expansive cross-cultural collaborations K-pop has ever seen with Latin artists.
Super Junior’s Siwon also addressed the song’s success and explained to the crowd that it had been released amid the group’s Latin American leg of their Super Show 7 world tour. He also confirmed that the group “would like to work with” Leslie Grace again in the future if they’re given the opportunity.
The six members of Super Junior in attendance at KCON 2018 NY closed out the first night’s headlining concert on June 23. They performed alongside two other boy bands, Pentagon and Stray Kids, girl group Red Velvet, and soloist Heize.
