Cover Girls know how to party, even in the snow. Before playing to a packed house at Park City Live for Billboard’s Sundance party this past Monday, January 20, the sisters of Nervo, Liv and Mim, sat down to talk about working with Steve Aoki and putting the finishing touches on their debut album, expected to come out some time this year.
“We’ve just picked what we think will be the final 12-14 tracks,” says Mim of the album. “Now we’re just doing the paperwork, really, and doing the finishing touches which is often the hardest bit. Writing is the fun part but submitting something and saying ‘Okay, I’m done with it,’ that’s the hard part.”

Nervo burst onto the scene as co-writers of David Guetta and Kelly Rowland’s 2009 breakthrough single “When Love Takes Over.” Since then, the Australian sisters have committed to year-round touring, remixing for Beyoncé, Kylie Minogue and Katy Perry while turning out hits of their own, including “Hold On” which went to No. 1 on the Dance/Club charts last year.
One of the collaborators on the forthcoming album is Steve Aoki, who was also in Utah to throw some cake, amongst other things. In addition to an appearance on Nervo’s album, the duo said they are likely showing up on his next release as well.
“We’ve been working with Steve now for five years,” Liv explains. “He’s so original. [The] performance aspect to his show is unlike anybody else’s.”
