The fifth annual Sub City Take Action! tour kicks off Feb. 2, 2005, in Washington, D.C., with headliner Sugarcult. Other acts on the bill include the Early November, Hawthorne Heights and Head Automatica.
The 33-date tour — sponsored by youth brand Hurley International — aims to promote awareness for the National Hopeline Network, a suicide prevention and crisis hotline.
The tour will support the two-CD “Take Action Vol. 4” compilation from Sub City Records, which features acts such as NOFX, Taking Back Sunday, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists and Dillinger. The CD set is currently on sale. Proceeds from the project also benefit NHN.
Other tour sponsors include Hot Topic, Tower Records, footwear and apparel company Etnies, Alternative Press, Fanscape, Downloadpunk.com and the National Mental Health Organization.
More acts are expected to take part in the tour, which ends March 11 in Sayreville, N.Y.
The trek is booked by Susanne Dawursk, head of Chicago-based Flowerbooking. There is no national promoter.
