Sturgill Simpson didn’t waste time during the lockdown.
While many of us were bored senseless, the Kentucky native was prolific. After recovering from COVID-19, he dropped two albums in the latter months of the year, Cuttin’ Grass, Vol. 1: The Butcher Shoppe Sessions, which peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart, and its followup Cuttin’ Grass, Vol. 2: The Cowboy Arms Sessions, which reached No. 27.
There’s a lot more to look forward to for Simpson, who’s hoping to add another Grammy Award to his collection for Sound & Fury, his 2019 set which is up for best rock album at the 63rd Grammys, to be held Jan. 31.
But before that, Simpson and his band stopped by The Tonight Show for an acoustic performance of “Life of Sin,” from Cuttin’ Grass, Volume 1.
