The 2010 Billboard Latin Music Awards, which aired live from Puerto Rico April 29, reached more than 5 million viewers in the U.S. alone, for the third consecutive year.
According to Nielsen Media Research, the awards averaged 1,254,000 households, growing 10% over last year’s telecast (1,141,000). The show’s broadcast reached over 5 million viewers for the third year in a row, with 5.3 million total viewers–down slightly from the record 5.8 million reached in 2009.
The show, presented by State Farm and in association with T-Mobile, was the No. 1 program across all stations in Miami among adults 18-49 and 18-34 and No. 1 in New York among adults 18-34. In Chicago, San Francisco and Las Vegas, the show had its strongest ratings since 2004.
On the digital front, telemundo.com, which also houses billboardenespanol.com, had 500,000 unique users, up 29% from 2009, and 9 million page views. The awards also generated more than 2 million page views on Twitter and 200,000 unique users.
