Barbra Streisand is to embark on her first-ever tour of Continental Europe this summer, and take in her first U.K. dates since 1994.
The European tour, which will feature a 58-piece orchestra, begins June 21 at Vienna’s Schloss Schonbrun, before moving on to France, Ireland and the United Kingdom. More shows in other European markets will be announced shortly.
“What a joy it will be to perform in so many wonderful countries for the first time,” said Streisand in a statement. “I can’t wait to experience these different audiences and different cultures.”
The tour will be presented by promoter Michael Cohl for Concert Productions International (CPI) and Solo. Tickets go on sale Friday (May 5).
Meanwhile, Sony BMG will issue a two-disc collection “Live in Concert 2006” across Europe next Monday, a day before its North American release. The set was recorded during the star’s fall tour of the United States, which grossed more than $92 million, according to Billboard Boxscore.
