As tipped here last month, George Strait will begin a North American arena tour Jan. 12 in Des Moines, Iowa. Miranda Lambert will join the previously announced Tracy Lawrence in the support act role for the outing, which will run through March 4 in Louisville. Six Canadian shows are also on tap beginning June 3 in Edmonton, Alberta.
The tour comes in support of Strait’s recent MCA Nashville album, “Somewhere Down in Texas,” which debuted in July at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. It has sold 611,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The only pre-tour appearance on Strait’s schedule will come Nov. 15 as part of the Country Music Association awards in New York.
