The European leg of the Rolling Stones “A Bigger Bang” world tour will kick off in Barcelona on May 27, 2006.
The veteran rock act announced the initial line-up of 32 stadium dates today (Nov. 29) through a series of live TV link-ups with national broadcasters across Europe. Band members Mick Jagger, Keith Richard, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood all took part in the broadcasts from Dallas, Texas, at the end of the first leg of their U.S. tour.
The initially-confirmed U.K. dates on the tour include one night (Aug. 20) at London’s new Wembley Stadium, which is nearing completion after six years under construction. U.K. ticket prices range from £40 ($69) to £150 ($258). Each show will also feature several hundred seats built directly into the stadium set.
The Stones will be the second act to play the new Wembley, following an AEG-promoted Bon Jovi show set for June 11. In 2000, Bon Jovi was the last act to play at the old Wembley Stadium.
The Stones dates, which finish Aug. 29 in Cardiff, Wales, are promoted by Clear Channel Entertainment/The Next Adventure and Concert Promotions International. The tour is being sponsored by American Express.
