One week after the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting that claimed the lives of 17 students and teachers, the Parkland community came together at a CNN town hall last night to ask for change.
One student, Cameron Kasky, called out Florida Senator Marco Rubio for accepting donations from the NRA. Anther student, Emma Gonzalez, questioned the NRA spokeswoman on what the organization is going to do to prevent this from happening again.
After the heated question-and-answer session, the Stoneman Douglas Drama Club performed a new song that they had written just days after the tragedy.
The powerful song, titled “Shine,” featured teens belting out the lyrics “We’re tired of hearing that we’re too young to ever make a change” over a piano ballad. The performance also featured students demanding action from their leaders. “We have the power to change the world around us.”
