Despite huge touring success, five full-length albums, over 25 million SoundCloud plays on a summer single and 50,000 records sold, Southern California roots reggae favorite Stick Figure has a new musical milestone lined up: its first-ever music video for “Fire on the Horizon,” a track from their upcoming album Set in Stone (due out Nov. 13).
The refreshingly relaxing song and vid was shot DIY-style in the Santa Cruz Mountains and beaches by the home studio of band frontman and producer Scott Woodruff. Backed by bassist Tommy Suliman, drummer Kevin Offitzer, and keyboardist Kevin Bong, Stick Figure combines both reggae and dub influences to create their signature sound.

“My favorite line from the song is ‘In this jungle, we are all just animals, we’re criminals, but we’re innocent always,’” Woodruff tells Billboard. “As with a lot of Stick Figure music, this song builds on the theme of freeing your mind and escaping to a magical place and the video captures that and the beauty of this world.”
All that, and a really cute dog.
The LP hits earbuds this Friday, Nov. 13 via Ruffwood Records. Watch the video for “Fire on the Horizon,” which Billboard is premiering exclusively below.
