While rock superstar Stevie Nicks appears in the latest episode of FX’s “American Horror Story: Coven” (airing Jan. 8 at 10 p.m.), don’t expect to see Nicks add “actress” to her resume any time soon.
“As far as being an actress?” Nicks tells Billboard. “Wouldn’t want to do it. Never will do it. Would not be interested in being an actress for anything. Especially after watching real actresses work.”
Those real actresses being the stars of “Coven,” which she shares screen time with in the episode, titled “The Magical Delights of Stevie Nicks.”
“I did get a chance to really watch Jessica Lange and really watch Emma Roberts — who is eeeevil, in the best sort of way. And Jessica Lange’s just like, awesome.
Nicks says her “Coven” experience was “fantastic” and she “loved being a part of it,” adding that it does scare her “a little bit.”
Nicks made the cameo in the episode — her first of two appearances in the series — thanks to her fondness for the show’s creator, Ryan Murphy. (Another Murphy show, “Glee,” earlier paid tribute to the music of Nicks’ band, Fleetwood Mac — but only after Nicks granted permission to use her tunes.)
“Ryan is a mad genius,” Nicks says. “Why I relate to (‘Coven’), and why I relate to ‘Glee,’ is because I think that Ryan just writes about misfits. Whether they’re kids that don’t fit in high school or whether they’re witches that don’t fit into society.
Nicks continues: “He just writes about people that don’t fit in, and I love that. I just think it’s brilliant. I would never have accepted something like this if I didn’t really believe in (him and show co-creator) Brad (Falchuk) as these amazing writers.”
