When Oliver Heldens teamed with vocalist Danny Shah for latest single “What The Funk,” he exhibited a potential for dance-pop crossover not yet seen by the illustrious house producer. It’s a lively, radio-friendly jam about being young and having too much fun. It only makes sense that the king of pop-dance crossover get tapped for the remix.
Dim Mak mastermind Steve Aoki spent most of 2017 rockin’ a hip-hop vibe on his LP Kolony, but his recent release of “All Night,” featuring Fifth Harmony‘s Lauren Jauregui, signals a return to big builds and bright lights. He’s back on his Neon Future tip, and this rework of “What The Funk” is as bold and brash as anything you’ve heard from the living party. It’s got a hint of dubstep growl in its glittering drop, but we think it’s all about the electric groove of the song’s verses.
