“I guarantee it’s about to get lit,” yelps T-Pain on Steve Aoki‘s new Kolony release, “Lit.” And he’s not lying.
The new track, which also features Gucci Mane, melds dance and hip-hop into an industrial, heavy-hitting party anthem, with plenty of references to money, diamonds and VIP sections included.
“It’s literally lit! [T-Pain and Gucci Mane] both brought in an energy to it in their own way that made it extra lit,” Aoki told Billboard of the song in a June interview. “T-Pain just took it to the next level with his hook in his classic T-Pain way.”
Aoki also gave us a clue on the track’s forthcoming video: “Guwop, he’s King Guwop. As far as the music video, he’s sitting on the throne because he’s the king.”
Aoki’s collaborative LP Kolony, out July 21, experiments with a host of other hip-hop acts, including Lil Yachty and Migos, who appeared on the single “Night Call,” and 2 Chainz, who came in with an assist on “Without U.” The project follows up Aoki’s 2015 Neon Future II.
