Stereolab is eyeing a mid-April release for two-CD/one-DVD collection of EPs and rarities. The as-yet-untitled, 33-track set will be issued on a label yet to be announced, following Stereolab’s recent split with longtime North American label Elektra. The group has issued two prior rarities sets under the moniker “Switched On,” the last coming in 1995 via Duophonic/Drag City.
According to the band’s official Web site, the track list for the upcoming set stretches as far back as 1993’s “Jenny Ondioline,” an 18-minute track found on that year’s album “Transient Random-Noise Bursts With Announcements.” Also included are the album and single version of “Ping Pong,” a live version of “Transona 5” and the contents of the 2001 EP “Captain Easychord.”
The DVD will feature videos for such tracks as “Miss Modular,” “Fluorescences” and “Wow and Flutter,” plus performances of “Cybele’s Reverie” and “Les Yper Sound” on the U.K. variety show “Later With Jools Holland.”
Stereolab’s final Elektra studio album, “Margerine Eclipse,” was released in February and debuted at No. 6 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart.
