Fans of Jack Johnson can get a taste of the singer/songwriter’s forthcoming effort, “Sleep Through the Static,” via its single “If I Had Eyes.” The track became available yesterday (Dec. 13) via iTunes. Shoppers who pre-order the album will receive the song for free.
“Some of the songs on this album are about making babies. Some of the songs are about raising them,” Johnson says of the 14-track “Sleep Through the Static.” “Some of the songs are about the world that these children will grow up in; a world of war and love, and hate, and time and space. Some of the songs are about saying goodbye to people I love and will miss.”
The album, due Feb. 5 via Brushfire/Universal, was created using 100% solar energy at the Hawaii native’s eco-friendly L.A. studios. Johnson will kick off his tour in support of the set on Earth Day (April 22) at Hawaii’s Kokua Festival.
As previously reported, the album features bassist Merlo Podlewski, drummer Adam Topol, pianist/accordionist Zach Gill and was produced by JP Plunier, who produced Johnson’s debut, “Brushfire Fairytales.”
