We’re going to go out on a limb and say that when the members of MGMT imagined musical famedom, they never expected it would include elementary school children singing their songs. The fifth graders of the P.S. 22 Chorus, based in Graniteville, Staten Island, recently added the band’s hit “Kids” to their impressive repertoire.

Their semi-synchronized interpretive dance moves are a major highlight of the clip, and the kid in the front row who will not sit down wins us over, too. These young singers aren’t just cute — the P.S. 22 Chorus sounds great and is known nationally for performances on VH1’s “Divas” 2009 and and the 2009 National Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The group’s past covers include more obscure songs by Beach House and Phoenix, so someone around there apparently dabbles in indie rock.
