Sheryl Crow, Barry Manilow, and Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland will be among the artists bringing holiday cheer to NBC’s “Christmas in Rockefeller Center,” which will be held Dec. 4 in the heart of New York City. Leading up to the lighting of one of the world’s most famous Christmas trees, Josh Groban, Carly Simon, Michelle Branch, and Kelly Clarkson will also entertain.
Hosted by “Today” regulars Al Roker and Ann Curry, the hour-long special will feature appearances by the Radio City Rockettes, and stars from several NBC series, including Tom Cavanagh (“Ed”), Brittany Snow and Vanessa Lengies (“American Dreams”), and Goran Visnjic (“ER”).
New York viewers will be served a double helping of “Christmas in Rockefeller Center,” as WNBC will broadcast an additional hour of the celebration prior to the national broadcast, which will begin at 8 p.m. ET.
Among the musical highlights expected are Groban’s performance of “O Holy Night,” Simon’s rendition of “Silent Night,” on which she’ll be accompanied by her son, Ben Taylor, and Crow’s version of John Lennon’s “Happy Xmas (War is Over).” At deadline, exactly which performances would be scheduled in the national broadcast was still being solidified, according to an NBC spokesperson.
