Under the banner Force of Nature for Tsunami Aid, a slate of star acts will perform March 18 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to raise funds for long-term rebuilding efforts in regions affected by the Dec. 26 tsunami in the Indian Ocean. The Backstreet Boys, the Black Eyed Peas, Boyz II Men and former Fugees bandmates Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean are all confirmed to perform at Stadium Putra.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the non-profit Kuala Lumpur-based Nature Aid Foundation. The cost of staging the event, produced by Los Angeles-based Intersection Entertainment, is being underwritten by a consortium of Malaysian private enterprises.
“Forces of nature comes in many forms, some beautiful, others devastating, but one is more extraordinary than them all, mankind’s overwhelming impulse to reach out to those in need,” says Razali Ismail the appointed special envoy to the prime minister of Malaysia’s tsunami aid efforts and former Malaysian UN president. “The more people unite under this common human instinct, the greater its power. In the end, the consortium hopes to create a Force of nature that can change the world.”
Tickets priced at 21-552 Malaysian ringgits ($22-145) can be purchased through Forceofnature.org. After the concert, the site promises to feature images, video and sound clips from the event.
