Days after the official all-star finale in Washington, D.C., Bruce Springsteen will steer the Vote for Change tour homeward to host a concert at the Continental Airlines Arena in East Rutherford, N.J. The bill for the Oct. 13 show will feature Springsteen and the E Street Band, Jackson Browne and John Fogerty, as well as Springsteen’s wife/E Street Band singer/guitarist Patti Scialfa.
Tickets for the show will go on sale Wednesday (Oct. 6) via Ticketmaster (online and phone orders only), according to a note sent this afternoon to Springsteen’s official e-mail list. Like all of the shows on the Vote for Change tour, it will be produced by MoveOnPAC and benefit America Coming Together.
“The Vote for Change experience has been so wonderful that we couldn’t let it end without taking it to New Jersey,” Springsteen’s manager, Jon Landau, says in the message. “The Meadowlands is going to be shaking.”
The Vote for Change tour’s Oct. 11 “finale” will boast more than a dozen artists, including Springsteen, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Dave Matthews Band and James Taylor. The Sundance Channel broadcast of the event, “National Anthem: Inside the ‘Vote for Change’ Concert Tour,” will also feature pre-taped behind-the-scenes segments directed by veteran filmmakers Albert Maysles and D A Pennebaker.
Springsteen’s leg of the Vote for Choice tour continues tomorrow in St. Paul, Minn., with R.E.M., Fogerty and Bright Eyes on the bill. That lineup, with Tracy Chapman taking the place of Bright Eyes, is also slated to play Friday in Orlando, Fla.
