On Dec. 3, the Billboard Pro Spotlight Series tackles the current explosion in music publishing deals with “Songs For Sale,” a new Deep Dive package and virtual event featuring guests such as Primary Wave founder and CEO Larry Mestel, Hipgnosis Songs Fund Limited founder Merck Mercuriadis, Anthem Entertainment Group CEO Helen Murphy and more.
Even amid the economic uncertainty of the pandemic, the volume of publishing deals has continued to rise dramatically, driven by historically low interest rates, creators making up lost touring revenue and the prospect of changes in tax policy. Billboard Pro’s Deep Dive on the subject will offer information on how to sell publishing rights; a guide to lawyers and other professionals who can help; and a virtual video event featuring a presentation by MRC Data, panels with various publishing executives and an interview with Mercuriadis, whose Hipgnosis Songs has been behind some of the year’s biggest publishing deals.
The livestream will air at 12 p.m. EST with panel videos living here afterwards. If you’re a Billboard Pro member, you already have access. If you’re not a member, see Pro options and sign up today here.
