In 2010, 13-year-old Brooklyn Haley had to leave Little River-Academy, Texas. The town, with a population of 1,600, was just too small for her big-city dreams of pop stardom. Two years later, those dreams are becoming a reality.

“Crash,” Haley’s latest single, is available on iTunes via INgrooves/Universal Music Group, a video for the track is racking up views by the thousands on YouTube and KidzBop.com, and her first full album is due in fall on the Parimore Music imprint, launched by her manager Michelle Parimore.
Haley began performing at the age of five. An ad in a magazine led to her first taste in the spotlight singing in front of an audience at Nick Cooper’s Vocal Boot Camp. After that experience, she knew performing was her destiny. Her future manager, Parimore, discovered her via her MySpace page, but there was one major hurdle that prevented her career from moving forward. Haley had trouble finding a vocal coach back home in Little River-Academy. With her mother’s blessing, she opted to move to Burbank, California with her grandparents where she could pursue her dreams.
Since relocating to California, Haley has studied regularly under vocal coach Cooper, whose client list includes Beyonce, Katy Perry and David Archuleta; she’s attending The BiZ School of Music weekly, and she’s working with Grammy-winning producers Alex Cantrall and Jeff Hoeppner of Radio Nation. Cantrall, whose credits include work with Justin Timberlake, Kelly Clarkson and Beyonce, says, “I’ve been working in the music industry for over 20 years, and I’ve never seen an artist with a better shot to explode on the scene. Get used to hearing the name Brooklyn Haley.”
Also working with Haley on her debut album is Eddie Galan, best-known for his work on the chart-topping, multi-platinum “High School Musical” soundtrack. Of Haley, Galan says, “She’s so talented with an amazing work ethic. That combo in an artist can lead to truly great things and I believe Brooklyn Haley is heading down that path.”

Although Haley admires current hit-makers Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj, her sound is actually closer to the effervescent, fresh-faced teen pop of Hilary Duff and Selena Gomez on the tracks “Boomerang,” “Straight Jacket,” and “Record-N-Rock,” which are also available via iTunes.
Aside from working on her album, Haley is also busy perfecting her craft as a performer. One of her biggest dates thus far was an opening spot last summer for Earth, Wind & Fire at Los Angeles’ Nokia Theatre. Last year, she was also featured on a seven-city, five-state “No Bully Tour,” which included a mix of compatible Radio Disney and Nickelodeon stars.
The message hit home for Haley. “I was bullied a lot in middle school, so when Michelle told me about it, I totally jumped on it. It was a really fun experience,” she says. On March 9, she’s one of the featured acts at the Queen Mary Music Festival in Long Beach, California. She also plans to perform at a variety of other dates this spring, from opening day celebrations at Little Leagues in the Southern California area to Rockin’ a Cure 3, a benefit for Cystic Fibrosis research, set for May 5 at The Vault in Orange County.
In addition to working such avenues as online video and radio, traditional radio and teen press, Haley’s team is also working to expose her music via a series of licensing deals. Her music will be featured in an upcoming commercial for Monopoly, the song “Boomerang” will be heard in an upcoming episode of “90210,” and “Record-N-Rock” is set for inclusion in the forthcoming multi-console video game “Dance Wars.”
Haley’s talents also stretch beyond music. She’s done some acting and comedy as well, performing at the Improv in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. A reality show starring Haley, “In the Heart of Brooklyn,” is also in the works, through Nick Cannon’s N’ Credible Entertainment. The pilot episode focuses on Haley’s struggles moving from a small town in Texas to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams of pop stardom.
While those dreams have yet to be fulfilled, Haley is on her way. In February, she was captured walking the red carpet at the Grammy Awards on E! Entertainment Television and was seen by folks back in Little River-Academy.
