Spain’s Fundación Autor, the activities arm of authors’ and publishers’ society SGAE, has published what it boasts is the world’s first latino heavy metal dictionary.
The 400-page “Diccionario de Heavy Metal Latino,” compiled by 24 writers in Spanish-speaking music markets, went to bookshops in Spain on Jan. 13. The document contains data on hundreds of Spanish-language heavy metal artists.
Fundación Autor will ship the book to music trade fairs, such as Midem, beginning this weekend in Cannes, as well as to other foreign trade events attended by the Spanish trade and foreign ministries.
The organization has already printed dictionaries on latin hip-rock and rock, which are considered reference books in the latin music world.
