Sony/ATV Music Publishing has signed songwriter/producer Chris Braide through the publisher’s U.K. office.
Braide co-wrote Clay Aiken’s “This is the Night,” which hit No. 1 on The Billboard Hot 100 (June 28, 2003), and Diana DeGarmo’s “Dreams,” No. 1 on the Hot 100 Singles Sales (Sept. 25, 2004). He is perhaps best known in the U.K. for co-writing “Anything Is Possible” for Will Young, which earned Braide and co-writer Cathy Dennis an Ivor Novello award in May 2003.
In addition to occasionally releasing his own records as the band Malmo, Braide recently formed a band with record producers Trevor Horn, Lol Creme and Steve Lipson. They are performing small gigs under the band name, the Producers.
“Chris is an amazing pop writer and has achieved success on both sides of the Atlantic,” says Rakesh Sanghvi, managing director of Sony/ATV Music Publishing in the United Kingdom. “We’re delighted to have him on board and look forward to working with him on all of the exciting projects he is currently involved with.”
