Nir Seroussi has been named president of Sony Music U.S. Latin, effective immediately.
Seroussi, who for the past three years was the label’s managing director, will continue to be based in Miami, reporting to Afo Verde, chairman/CEO for the Latin-Iberia region of Sony Music Entertainment.

Verde’s announcement of Seroussi’s promotion coincides with the debut at No. 1 on the Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart of Romeo Santos’ new single, “Odio” (featuring Drake). It is the latest in a string of hits for Sony Music U.S. Latin in the past year, including No. 1 singles and albums by Marc Anthony, Carlos Vives, Prince Royce and Yandel.
“Since [Seroussi’s] appointment as managing director in 2012, Sony Music U.S. Latin has experienced renewed growth,” Verde said, noting that in the past year alone artists like Vives, Wisin, Yandel, Gloria Estefan and Prince Royce have joined the Sony roster. “A restless and focused visionary, Nir has spearheaded many innovative business development initiatives, including the production of original content for radio and television,” added Verde.
A Berklee College of Music grad and a songwriter, Seroussi initially joined Sony’s Latin operation in Los Angeles in 2004 as VP of marketing and A&R for Sony BMG U.S. Latin’s West Coast operations. He was largely responsible for beefing up the company’s regional Mexican roster developing artists like Los Cuates de Sinaloa and Gerardo Ortiz.
But since his promotion to MD, he took a more direct role in signing and developing acts and crafting successful release strategies.
“I am truly excited and honored to continue being part of such an extraordinary organization that is passionate about music and believes in change,” Seroussi said. “Afo is writing a new chapter in music business history, and more importantly, he’s built the best home an artist can wish for. I am grateful for his support throughout the years and look forward to all the success to come.”
Sony Music U.S. Latin’s releases for 2014 include albums by Wisin, Chayanne, Ricky Martin, Romeo Santos and Shakira for the U.S. Latin market.
