
Hoping to expand its overseas influence, Sony Music Entertainment (SME) proclaimed several new members of its international leadership team, according to a press release today.
Epic Records veteran Adam Granite leads the announcements as Executive Vice President, International. Granite will report to International President/CEO Edgar Berger and work closely with Ole Oberman’s European Digital Team, focusing on expanding Sony’s digital initiative. In addition to business development in Europe, Granite will oversee operations in Scandanavia, Benelux, Eastern Europe, Greece, Turkey, and South Africa.
Granite has most recently served as Epic’s General Manager. Prior to that, the University of Pennsylvania graduate has held a variety of positions in the company’s Finance & Operations department, since first joining in 1996.
In addition to Granite, Bert Schorer was named Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for SME. Stationed in London, Schorer will work closely with Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Kevin Kelleher on supervising matters on international finance.
Since joining BMG in 1997, Schorer has held numerous leadership positions in Eastern Europe. Most recently, he served as CFO in Germany, Switzerland, and Austria, overseeing financial and IT operations.
Rounding out the announcements, Stu Bondell will continue his role as Executive Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs. Aside from his immediate job title, he will be responsible for assorted deals and strategic issues worldwide.
Berger, named President/CEO of Sony International last month, expressed a great deal of enthusiasm and confidence in his recent appointments.
