Australian marketing veteran Gill Robert joined Sony BMG Music Entertainment Australia today (July 7) as director of strategic marketing.
He reports to Tony Glover, GM of strategic marketing. Robert replaces Craig Green who was promoted last month to director of frontline marketing.
Robert, a 40-year industry veteran, climbed to senior positions in
Festival Records during 1971 to 1985, and joined Sony Music in 1986 (formerly CBS Records) as marketing and sales director.
In 1990, he was promoted to GM, label division and in 1995 became GM, strategic marketing & new technology.
Robert moved on to other fields. He was managing director for Country Music Television Australia/Asia Pacific between 1998 and 2002. For the last four years, he served as director of music and management company Vital Entertainment Solutions, where he handled the careers of country music artists Beccy Cole and Jake Nickolai.
