Sony BMG Norte picked up five awards during the Billboard Bash, the annual pre- awards celebration held as a preamble to the Billboard Latin Music Awards.
During the April 9 event, which features performances by finalists and honors labels, publishers and songwriters, Sony BMG won honors as top Latin albums label of the year and hot Latin songs label of the year, as well as tropical airplay label of the year, Latin pop albums label of the year and tropical albums label of the year.
Other winners of the evening were Fonovisa, in the regional Mexican airplay label of the year category; Machete, for Latin rhythm airplay label of the
year; and Univision for regional Mexican albums label of the year.
The publisher of the year award went to Sony/ATV Discos (ASCAP) while EMI Music Publishing won for publishing corporation of the year for their second
consecutive year.
Finalists and winners to the Billboard Latin Music Awards are determined by their performance on the Billboard charts, as measured by Nielsen SoundScan and BDS during a one-year period from the issue dated February 10, 2007 through this year’s February 2nd issue.
