It’s good to be young. Songland was new Wednesday night, and country music band Old Dominion teamed up with Jeep chief marketing officer Olivier François in search of the right soundtrack for a new Jeep commercial.
The writers Jacobi.E, Maci, Jake Scott and Katelyn Tarver pitched their efforts for the songwriting competition, but it was Georgia native Tarver’s “Young” that got the engines running.
After Shane McAnally tinkered with the lyrics, everything was humming along. “I am blown away. This song is about being young at heart,” François enthused. “I think this could absolutely work.”
Tarver has released several EPs, LPs and singles, and has a string of acting credits to her name, including roles on Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush and ABC’s No Ordinary Family.
Tonight, she’s takes the glory. She worked with McAnally and Old Dominion to cut the winning song, the first ever recorded by the Nashville outfit that they hadn’t written themselves.
